Useful Information for Concord CA

Concord, CA was discovered during a 1772 Spanish expedition, but was not settled for the next half century. Build-able land was offered as an incentive to both merchants and settlers starting in 1869, the same year the official name of Walnut Creek was established.

The city was incorporated in 1905, and the population remained fairly small until after WW II. Boasting a high school, five churches, a modern hospital, a library, cinemas, a downtown commercial area as well as tree lined streets and nice residential areas, the population was less than 1500.

Following the 2nd world war, the population has increased dramatically, and today is over 100,000. Concord today is the largest city in Contra Costa County.
